Amiria Grennell

Amiria Grenell grew up on a horsebreeding farm in Whitecliffs, Canterbury. With three older brothers all playing music, Amiria decided she could too, so at age 10 began playing the guitar and making up her own chords.  Her first performances were at Folk Festivals
Amiria then performed locally around Christchurch at Mainstreet, The Dux, the Arts Centre Market, and local festivals.  She also enjoyed gigs at The Gathering , Kaikoura Roots Festival , Parihaka Peace Festival, Destinations, Canaan Downs, Area 9 Festival, Lyttelton Summer Festival, the Christchurch Art Gallery , The Catlins River Festival and Christchurch Libraries for NZ Music Month. A highlight was headlining a Lazy Sunday event in the Botanic Gardens, with her band, as part of the Christchurch Summertimes.
Amiria's album
"Three Feathers"
won the Tui for Best Folk Album 2012, in the New Zealand Music awards.

This is one of the most "laid back" music festivals in new Zealand

In addition to the amazing "head line acts" there is ample opportunity for everyone to perform, be it at the BlackBoard concerts or late at night around the camp fire.

We have a gorgeous camping area on Waihi Bush Organic Farm, with 15 ha of virgin native bush, and a river with swimming holes.  We have running tap water & composting toilets (smell free), and there are BBQs available.

This year there will be a new gourmet food stall with organic Espresso Coffee - not like last year.

There is lots of parking for cars and buses, with gravelled access.
Pets must be controlled at all times.

tim walker
Tim Walker

To look at the 6"4 frame of Melbourne based New Zealand Singer/Songwriter Tim Walker you might size him up as a boxer or a rugby player, and you would be absolutely right.   But contrary to his physical immensity, Walker’s real talent lies in the art of the sensitive love song.  His voice is soft, fine, emotive.  His songs are lush love stories that would make even the most jaded person melt.  The proof of the pudding lies in Walker’s debut album “You/Me”
Walker won the Musicoz International Artist of the Year award with his singles “Lullabies” and “Maybe Bay” from this album. He also made the finals for the best video and best acoustic singer/songwriter.  No mean feat for an unsigned and relatively unknown artist from New Zealand. He would go on to play a string of shows in London the highlight being playing a set apart of the Olympic Celebrations at Kiwi House.
Walker wears his heart on his sleeve unabashedly and we are grateful for it.

Eoin Duignan

eoin duignan

Eoin Duignan is a gifted musician and composer and has lived in Dingle since 1979. His enchanting and uplifting melodies have touched the hearts of listeners, both young and old, down through the years. The casual listener will be drawn as if by magic to the music's inner core; entranced not only by the shapes and turns of melody but also well-spring of emotions that the pieces portray.

Eoin has developed his own distinctive musical style, that is original in a traditional mode.  It ranges from the haunting slow airs to the lively percussive reels and jigs which have enchanted audiences worldwide and set them dancing wherever he has played.

He is a renowned uilleann piper and low whistle player influenced at an early age by the master pipers Seamus Ennis and Leo Rowsome.

DUIGO

Eoin and Jon play traditional and traditional compositions, they blend reed, wind and string instruments, taking you on a freewheeling journey over rugged Atlantic coastlines, kerry mountains, to Britany in France, Galicia in Spain- even as far as the dry, dusty Himalayan foothills in Afganistan

The East Liv McBride

Graeme Woller & Liv McBride

Graeme & Liv weave their signature mix of thoughtful lyricism and effortless harmony with a dry and slightly twisted sense of humor to boot.

Liv and Graeme first hit the music scene playing in covers bands. Both have established successful solo careers, but always maintained their seven-year musical bond. In fact it was Graeme’s move to Byron Bay, NSW in 2011 that highlighted that, while they could stand their ground individually, the music was never quite the same. The pair have now driven their flag into the ground of rugged Southland, claiming this stunning backdrop as the ultimate muse for their collaboration.

Jon Sanders

Jon Sanders bouzouki

Jon Sanders is recognised as a leading exponent in drop D and DADGAD guitar playing, a virtuoso bouzouki player and  tenor ukulele player and an internationally acclaimed composer. His style draws on the freedom within the contemporary acoustic music scene incorporating elements of jazz, funk, latino and Celtic styles, somewhat reminiscent of Sylvain Luc, Pierre Bensusan and Antonio Forcione, James Hill yet instantly different.

His innovative approach (the left-handed Da Vinci mind!?) led him in the late 1990's to develop a guitar with a 2nd pick-up allowing him to create the sound of guitar and bass simultaneously. Most recently he has composed brand new bouzouki duets inspired by open air sessions 1500ft up the Conor Pass outside Dingle! These, alongside other original classical, folk and jazz influenced pieces on bouzouki and tenor ukulele, have just been released on his new cd, Twigs of the Neem Tree.
